Government packaging plan splits industry

The Department of the Environment (DoE) is pushing through a packaging plan which would set recovery targets for each part of the packaging chain based on an equal split of responsibility. The industry body, V-WRAG, has reluctantly accepted disaggregated targets - but not based on an equal split. The disaggregated targets have opened a rift among V-WRAG's members which may lead to the Government rejecting the shared producer responsibility approach altogether.
