Scottish landfill firm fights water pollution conviction

The Scottish mining and landfill firm LAW Mining is fighting a conviction for water pollution on legal technicalities. Although it is not disputing that it polluted a stream near its East Kilbride landfill with leachate, the firm appears determined to prevent its environmental record barring it from receiving the waste management licences it is seeking for new landfill sites.
