MPs review pesticides, veterinary medicines agencies

Controversial recommendations to reduce the involvement of the Department of the Environment in the regulation of pesticides have been made by the House of Commons Agriculture Committee following an inquiry into the work of the Pesticides Safety Directorate (PSD).1 The Committee also criticises the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) for its handling of complaints about the health hazards of organophosphate sheep dips and proposes that some of its work be made transparent and independent.
