Brussels trims plans for legislation in 1996

Pressure on the European Commission to stem the flow of legislative proposals has made its mark on the Commission's work programme for next year. Only two wholly new draft Directives - on industrial solvent emissions and end-of-life vehicles - are promised in 1996. A commitment to issue a third proposal on environmental liability was dropped from the programme at the last minute, but may yet be revived in the next few weeks.
