Foundries warm to savings from clean technology
In 1991, the investment casting industry issued dire warnings that emission controls under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 would have a severe impact on its competitiveness. However, a case study produced by the Government's Environmental Technology Best Practice Programme (ETBPP) shows that foundries stand to make large cost savings and improvements in product quality by switching from alcohol- to water-based castings.1
