PAHs in estuaries pinned on steelworks, air pollution
Discharges from steelworks and urban air pollution are significant sources of polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in Britain's estuaries, according to a study by Ministry of Agriculture (MAFF) scientists.1 Particularly high PAH levels were found in the Tees and Thames estuaries.
