Ministers agree Directives on EIA, van emissions

Common positions on amendments to two Directives on environmental assessment and emissions from light vans were agreed by EC Environment Ministers on 18-19 December. The Council also instructed the Commission to prepare proposals for future EC water policy by the end of 1996; a biodiversity strategy by early 1997; and a strategy on acid rain by the summer of 1997. It was also told to speed up the progress of the EC's eco-labelling scheme.
