MAFF's first prosecution for illegal pesticide use
The first prosecution brought by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) for the unauthorised use of a pesticide has ended with a £2,000 fine being imposed on Berrygate Hill Nurseries of Keyingham, Humberside. But although MAFF surveillance has shown persistent abuse of certain fungicides in winter lettuce since 1990, other growers have been let off with cautions.
