  • A six-month pilot scheme in a clinical waste incinerator attached to St George's Hospital in Stafford has proven the practicalities of using ceramic filters instead of bag filters as a support for a renewable bed of lime absorbent within a dry scrubber to remove particulates and hydrogen chloride (HCl). The filters were manufactured by Cerel, a subsidiary of Foseco. HCl removal efficiencies were greater than 90% with final emissions well below statutory standards.
