Stronger deregulatory thrust in revised pollution control rules

The first major overhaul of the rules defining which industrial processes are subject to control under the two regimes created by Part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 has been completed by the Department of the Environment (DoE).1 Most of the several dozen changes are deregulatory, and indeed the DoE has gone slightly further in this direction than it proposed in December.
