Shell, Ciba produce first environmental reports

The trend towards corporate environmental reporting looks set to gain momentum in 1993. In the wake of 3M's first report in December (ENDS Report 215, p 3 ), Shell UK and Ciba UK have issued their first environmental reports.

Ciba (formerly Ciba-Geigy) UK produces a range of speciality chemicals from pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals to advanced polymers and dyestuffs. Its first environmental report stems from a world-wide project initiated in 1989 under which Ciba-Geigy's operating units are required to submit safety, energy and environmental reports annually to the group's Swiss headquarters.

The UK report is addressed to employees and provides a broad view
