Scotland's drinking water quality shock
Tap water was fifteen times more likely to fail EC microbiological standards in Scotland than in England and Wales in 1991, a Scottish Office report has revealed.1 Although many Scottish water undertakers achieve compliance levels as high or higher than their counterparts south of the border, some face huge problems in bringing supplies up to standard, particularly in remote rural areas.
