IPC guides for organic chemicals

Guidance notes for nine sectors of the organic chemicals industry which come within integrated pollution control (IPC) this summer have been issued by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP).1 The guidance marks another shift away from the old approach to industrial pollution regulation by placing the onus firmly on operators to keep abreast of advances in abatement techniques and not to cite those outlined in the notes in an attempt to delay the introduction of the latest developments in pollution control.
