Industry levy to help pay for aluminium foil recycling

The aluminium foil industry has announced plans for a national recycling campaign. The project will be partly financed by a levy paid by foil rollers.

The campaign will build on three pilot schemes launched by the Aluminium Foil Container Manufacturers Association (AFCMA) in October 1991 to assess ways of collecting the 34,000 tonnes of aluminium foil sold in Britain annually (ENDS Report 201, p 13). Another two pilot projects have since been added.
