Diecasting firm prosecuted for river pollution

The Thames Water Authority successfully prosecuted Fry's Diecastings Limited of Merton Abbey, London SW19, at Wimbledon Magistrate's Court on 23 September - resulting in a fine of £1000, the maximum allowable, plus costs of £100.

The offence, contrary to Section 2 of the River (Prevention of Pollution) Act 1951, was for causing oil pollution of the River Wandle on 23 March 1980.
