Regardless of Brexit, businesses will have to meet an array of environmental regulation deadlines this year. Here are 10 key deadlines to prepare for in 2019:
1 January 2019: New medium combustion permitting requirements enter force. The Medium Combustion Plant Directive, forming part of the EU’s Clean Air Policy Package for medium-sized combustion plants, was implemented in England and Wales by an amendment to the Environmental Permitting Regulations at the end of 2017. The rules apply to all new combustion plants with a rated thermal input 1-50 megawatts that were brought into operation from 20 December 2018. From 1 January 2019 ‘Tranche B’ generators – newer generators installed after December 2016 – will also need a permit. Existing plants will be phased in later.
