DEFRA to take action against councils over air quality plan failures

DEFRA is considering what action to take against three local authority groupings that missed the deadline to submit air quality plans by 31 December last year.

Responding to a written ministerial question yesterday, environment minister Thérèse Coffey said ministers were “considering the suitable action” against Bristol City Council, Coventry City Council and Greater Manchester councils, none of which have submitted a plan.
