DEFRA reels from ‘debilitating’ loss of senior civil servants

High levels of turnover in DEFRA and other departments are threatening the success of government projects and causing waste and inefficiency, according to a leading think tank. A report published by the Institute for Government found that DEFRA suffered from the fourth-greatest loss of senior civil servants in 2016/17 – those among the top 4,500 officials in government.
