The 10 goals set out in the 25-Year Environment Plan will be put on a statutory footing, environment secretary Michael Gove said today.

Speaking at the launch of the Natural Capital Committee’s sixth annual report, Gove said he intended that the plan’s targets - which include “cleaner air” and “thriving plants and wildlife” - would be set out in the second half of the draft Environment Bill, expected in the spring, and reiterated that the bill would feature in the Queen’s Speech.
