Waste criminal to pay £40,000 confiscation order

The operator of an illegal waste transfer station near Carrickfergus has been ordered to pay back the profits he made from his crimes.

In March 2017, Noel Samuel McAllister, 73, of Ballycarry, Co. Antrim, pleaded guilty to six charges under the Waste and Contaminated Land (Northern Ireland) Order 1997 on 27 March 2017. These were two counts of unlawfully depositing controlled waste, three of unlawfully keeping controlled waste and one of unlawfully treating controlled waste. He was handed a three-month prison sentence, suspended for three years.
