DEFRA is developing proposals on extended producer responsibility (EPR) for textiles in response to a report on sustainable fashion from the Environmental Audit Committee (EAC).

Published this morning, EAC’s report found producers of clothing should pay a one penny charge on each item of clothing they manufacture to fund better clothing collection and recycling. The cross party group of MPs said the charge could raise £35m every year.
