Government admits it 'should do more' on green procurement

Many public bodies - including the NHS and Ministry of Defence - are not taking environmental issues into account in their procurement decisions, in spite of the Government saying that all Departments had to do so last year. In a new initiative, all Departments will now have to draw up an environmental purchasing policy - which can be reported on - by 1 December.
