Commission, MEPs and ministers join the debate on REACH

Negotiations in the key EU institutions are coming to a head regarding the broad outline of the proposed new chemicals regime, REACH. Competitiveness ministers are said to have given "encouraging" signals to the UK Presidency for its compromise text. But the European Parliament, preparing to vote on the measure in November, has delivered conflicting votes from committees as to how much registration data companies should have to provide.
