An improved source of air quality information was launched by the environment department (DEFRA) on 14 February.1
The new website unites information contained on the DEFRA and Air Quality Archive websites. The archive has now been retired.
The site provides clearer and more easily accessible information on current and forecast air quality, and maps showing all monitoring stations in the UK.
It hosts OpenAir, a suite of free, open source data analysis tools. They can be used to examine trends such as the way nitrogen oxides (NOx) levels can vary over time and by wind direction.
The local air quality management support website has also been moved as part of the overhaul.2
