Water white paper delayed

The environment department (DEFRA) has put back its water white paper amid concerns about metering policy, but is consulting on water affordability issues.

The water white paper has been delayed until the autumn, environment minister Richard Benyon said on 4 April in answer to a parliamentary question.1

The white paper, announced last year, will set out how the water industry should develop over the coming decade and will include policies on water resources, metering, charging and competition (ENDS Report, September 2010).
