Ofgem investigates Eon’s CERT claims

Energy regulator focuses on 200,000 energy efficient lightbulbs sold in Ireland

Energy regulator Ofgem has launched an investigation into alleged misreporting by Eon of its use of compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) to meet obligations under the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target scheme (CERT).

CERT requires energy companies to invest in home energy efficiency. But many firms have been criticised for distributing too many CFLs to meet CERT rather than investing in home insulation (ENDS Report, April 2009).
