Asda lambasted over opt out from HFC phase-out survey

Asda and an HFC campaign group are at odds over the best way of making supermarket refrigeration more climate-friendly. Remanufacture rather than replacement may have a role to play

Refrigeration performanceThe campaign group the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) has blasted Asda, the UK’s second biggest supermarket chain, for opting out of its latest ‘Chilling Facts’ survey. The survey, the third published since 2009, monitors progress on the phase-out of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) from supermarket refrigerators, with a switch to more climate-friendly gases such as hydrocarbons or carbon dioxide.
