Severn Trent cracks down on trade effluent breaches

Severn Trent Water has successfully prosecuted four companies for breaching trade effluent consent limits. The firms paid out more than £48,000 in fines and costs.

Dye pouring into a drain. Courtesy of Severn TrentFour firms have been fined a total of £34,000 after Severn Trent Water prosecuted them for trade effluent offences. Costs added more than £14,000 to the bill.

On 18 March, Leicester-based Top Colour Dyers Ltd was fined £22,000 by the city’s magistrates and ordered to pay £3,000 in costs.
