Room for improvement in industrial and building energy efficiency

Machinery manufacturers and real estate firms are among those with much scope to improve energy efficiency, according to investor group Eurosif

The real estate, manufacturing and transport sectors have the most scope for saving energy, says a report from investor group Eurosif and rating agency Oekom.

It summarises the status of, and outlook for, measures to increase energy efficiency in eight sectors in the EU: machinery, metal production, transport, power generation, property, cement, chemicals and information and communications technology.

Property has the largest energy saving potential – 50% on average and up to 90% in some cases, says the report. Measures include improved insulation, heating and lighting.
