Uncertainty threatens low-carbon power investment

A CBI report says Britain will fail to attract enough investment to meet its plans for decarbonising the power sector without greater clarity on electricity market reforms and a strong Green Investment Bank

The UK is failing to attract low-carbon power generation investment at the scale and pace needed to meet its emissions reduction commitments, warns the CBI.   

In a report launched on 26 April, it blames continuing regulatory uncertainty and inadequate incentives for low carbon investment. It comes as the government prepares its post-consultation response on electricity market reforms aimed at boosting low-carbon generation (ENDS Report, March 2011) and detailed plans for the Green Investment Bank.
