The Green Investment Bank must not ignore energy efficiency innovation in manufacturing, say engineers

The forthcoming Green Investment Bank will need to focus on energy-efficient manufacturing as well as low carbon power infrastructure and products to complete the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy, say engineers.

In a position statement released on 21 April, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) at Stevenage, Hertfordshire says energy efficiency and conservation measures in manufacturing are highly cost-effective and should be prioritised because they reduce the need to build capital-intensive new plant.
