Electronics giant Hewlett Packard won Corporate Register’s award for best corporate responsibility report in March. Virgin Group won awards for best first-time report and creativity in communications (ENDS Report 432, pp 9-11). Vodafone won the best carbon disclosure category (ENDS Report 431, p 11).
CorporateRegister.com is an archive of over 31,000 corporate responsibility reports from over 7,500 global firms. The awards were entered by 90 firms with 7,336 votes cast by registered users of the website. However, 21% of votes were discounted due to an attempt by one unnamed firm’s employees to vote for their own report.
Corporate Register says reporting levels have risen steadily since 1992 and appear unaffected by the recession. Almost 5,000 reports were published last year. Corporate reporting is most common in the UK, followed by the US and Japan. As previously, one fifth of reports came from first timers.
