‘Step forward’ in bathing water

The Environment Agency has started publishing in-depth profiles of bathing waters in England and Wales on its website

The Environment Agency has started publishing in-depth profiles of bathing waters in England and Wales on its website.1

The profiles, accessible from a map, include quality rankings, recent test results, general information on the bathing water and on any potential sources of pollution.

Andy Cummins, campaigns director at Surfers Against Sewage, called the profiles a “significant step forward”. “They will allow beach users to make more informed decisions about when it might be best to use the water [or] give it a miss due to pollution incidents,” he said.
