McDonald’s acts on sustainable palm oil

McDonald’s is set to join the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil later this year, committing itself to sourcing only certified palm oil by 2015

McDonald’s is set to join the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) later this year, committing itself to sourcing only RSPO-certified palm oil by 2015.

The pledge forms part of the company’s ambition to eventually source all food and packaging from certified sustainable sources, under its sustainable land management commitment (SLMC) published in March.

 Sustainably sourcing beef, poultry feed, coffee, palm oil and wood fibre for packaging are the immediate priorities of the SLMC. The five were identified in collaboration with WWF, which spent a year analysing McDonald’s sourcing practices and supply chain.
