Wales plots radical course to zero waste

The Welsh Assembly Government is progressing its ambitious waste agenda by completing its municipal sector plan and consulting on a series of plans explaining how its waste efforts will work in key sectors

The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) has finalised its waste municipal sector plan, which it put out for consultation last year.1 It is also in the process of consulting on five further plans, which detail how its plans will work in key sectors.

The plans are part of an ambitious Welsh waste strategy Towards Zero Waste. The WAG intends to establish a framework that makes Welsh waste management focused more on high-quality, closed-loop recycling carried out closer to home than elsewhere in the UK.
