Chemical intermediates dossiers not justified, says ECHA

Almost all of the slimmed-down registration dossiers for intermediates checked so far by ECHA failed to show eligibility

Some 86% of the 400 registration dossiers for chemical intermediates evaluated by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) so far have failed to show eligibility for reduced regulatory requirements.

Intermediates are chemicals used to make other substances and require less detailed registration dossiers and lower registration fees under the REACH chemicals regime. But registrants must show they are produced and used under controlled conditions.
