Illegal scrap car dealer fined

The lack of a waste permit has cost a scrap car dealer almost £13,000

An illegal car waste site operator faced a penalty of almost £13,000 on 19 May.

Maciej Widelski appeared before Cambridge magistrates to plead guilty to running a site at Waterbeach, Cambridge, without a permit.

Trading as Smalfork UK, Widelski bought second hand cars at auction, for export to Poland. He stored them in a goods yard at Waterbeach station. The premises were let to him by a third party, unbeknown to the site's owner, Network Rail.
