Heineken breaches environmental permit

Selby magistrates fined Heineken UK Ltd £2,300 with £8,225 costs

Selby magistrates fined Heineken UK Ltd £2,300 with £8,225 costs on 18 April after the firm admitted breaching the environmental permit for its John Smith’s brewery in Tadcaster, Yorkshire.

The four breaches were all contrary to regulations 12 and 38 of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2007.

In August 2008, faults at the brewery led to 32,600 litres of cider being diverted to its effluent treatment plant, run by Yorkshire Water.
