Copenhagen Accord pledges fall short

Reseachers say that the Copenhagen Accord will not reach its global warming limit

The Copenhagen Accord will fail in its goal to limit global warming to 2°C, say scientists at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.1

Current national pledges imply the globe is heading for higher than 3°C warm­ing by 2100, their calculations show.

Writing in the journal Nature, Malte Meinshausen and colleagues compile 2020 greenhouse gas emissions projections based on pledges made under the accord (ENDS Report 421, pp 53-55).
