Industry to lobby with WWF on fish quotas

The EU's fishing quota system should be reformed

Two industry bodies have agreed to campaign alongside WWF on the reform of the EU’s fishing quota system.

The EU Fish Processors and Traders’ Association (AIPCE-CEP) and Eurocommerce, which represents EU retailers and traders, want long-term science-based sustainable management plans for all EU fisheries by 2015.

“Where once we might have been adversaries, today we are allies and all agree that without these key reforms we will not be able to bring European fisheries back to wide-scale health,” said Tony Long, director of WWF’s European office.
