A composting company has been prosecuted for not reducing the amount of waste treated at its site

Composting firm TEG Group has been prosecuted for failing to comply with Environment Agency instructions to cut the amount of waste treated at its site near Preston.

On 7 April, TEG pleaded guilty before Leyland magistrates to breaching regulation 38(1)(c) of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2007. It was fined £20,000 with £2,843 costs.

The company’s environmental permit limits the amount of material stored on-site to 200 tonnes. An extra 128t may be processed at any one time.
