Lampshade maker to pay £49,954 for packaging offences

A lampshade manufacturer has been fined for breaching packaging waste regulations

Domestic lampshade maker Servlite UK Ltd was fined £20,833 on 20 April, for five breaches of the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2005.

Salford magistrates ordered the firm to also pay £7,656 compensation to the Environment Agency and £18,465 in costs.

Servlite pleaded guilty to failing to register, provide a compliance certificate or take steps to recover and recycle packaging waste in 2008.
