Water industry calls for reform of regulation

The water industry has called for a two-year review of regulation of the sector, to shift incentives in favour of more sustainable and innovative behaviour

The water sector has put forward a raft of ideas for reform of regulation to deliver a more sustainable, customer-focused and innovative industry.

The report by industry body Water UK says now is the time to consider changes to regulation, with a new government, the completion of water firms’ 25-year strategic direction statements (ENDS Report 396, pp  8-9), and recent reviews on water competition (ENDS Report 412, pp 26-27) and charging (ENDS Report 419, p 48).1
