REACH inspection targets announced

The Health and Safety Executive has identified the first substances to be targeted under its REACH enforcement regime. A cross-European study suggests a quarter of firms are in breach of the chemicals regulation

The UK’s Health and Safety Executive’s REACH enforcement team has identified its first inspection targets.

It will trace ammonium dichromate and methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) through the supply chain to find firms that have not pre-registered or registered the substances as they should have under REACH (ENDS Report 424, pp 36-40). Those that have not been pre-registered or registered cannot legally be sold.
