The government’s new Marine Management Organisation (MMO) for England started work on 15 June

The government’s new Marine Management Organisation (MMO) for England started work on 15 June. The body was created by the Marine and Coastal Access Act, which gained royal assent last November (ENDS Report 418, p 44).1

From its Tyneside base, it will regulate development and activity at sea and enforce environmental protection laws. It will be able to issue civil sanctions for legal breaches (ENDS Report 421, pp 43-44).
