Northern Ireland Executive environment minister Edwin Poots has announced the formation of a group that will consider how the province can meet its carbon cuts targets

Northern Ireland Executive environment minister Edwin Poots has announced the formation of a group that will consider how the province can meet its carbon cuts targets.

Mr Poots will chair the cross-departmental working group, which will produce an action plan.

The environment department’s new climate activism marks a clear departure from Mr Poots’ predecessor, Sammy Wilson, who declared himself a climate change sceptic (ENDS Report 401, pp 4-6 and 413, p 7).
