The 300-megawatt peak capacity Thanet offshore wind farm has started operating off the east coast of Kent

The 300-megawatt peak capacity Thanet offshore wind farm has started operating off the east coast of Kent, developer Vattenfall announced in September.

The project brings UK offshore wind capacity to just over 1.3 gigawatts.

Some 14GW of offshore wind is needed by 2020 for the UK to meet its renewable energy targets, according to the last government’s renewables strategy (ENDS Report 402, pp 38–39).
