A review has been launched of the Equator Principles, which set environmental and social standards for financial institutions investing in major infrastructure and industrial projects

A review has been launched of the Equator Principles, which set environmental and social standards for financial institutions investing in major infrastructure and industrial projects.

The principles were established by ten banks in 2003 and now have about 65 signatories. Their standards are based on those of the International Finance Corporation, the private sector arm of the World Bank. These are being reviewed so the Equator Principles will need to be updated next year.
