Proposals to promote distributed energy

The Business Department (BERR) and the energy regulator Ofgem are consulting on measures to promote "distributed energy".1

Distributed energy usually means combined heat and power plants that supply heat to local industry and housing as well as providing electricity to the grid.

The consultation looks at ways of lowering market barriers to such plants.

The deadline for response is 11 March. Detailed proposals are expected in May.
