Saab biofuels advert misleading, says ASA

A national press ad for Saab promoting its high-biofuel cars is "misleading".

Saab’s ad stated its BioPower cars - which can use E85, a fuel that is up to 85% bioethanol - "do not significantly raise atmospheric levels of CO2". The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) decided this was not the case as although E85 will cut a car’s CO2 output by 70% compared with one burning fossil fuel, it would still release significant emissions.
